Taanishi folks,
My name is Jason Chernow. I am thrilled to officially announce my candidacy for Citizens’ Representative for District 6 Calgary Elbow in our new Otipemisiwak Métis Government. My journey has been rooted in service, and I am excited to channel my passion and experience into working for the betterment of our community. As those of you that know me are aware, I come from a strong and proud Métis family. My Métis family names include Jobin, Courtreille, Dumas, and Ferguson just to name a few. My grandmother is the late Marlene Lanz, a strong a Métis leader and powerful advocate for Métis rights. I understand the importance of heritage and the power of our history. District 6 Calgary Elbow sits on many very important historic Métis settlement sites, including Victoria Park, Shaganappi Point, the Elbow Valley, Fish Creek Park, and many more. I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve our community and to earn your support.
One of my core beliefs is that every voice matters. I am here to listen, to learn, and to amplify the concerns and aspirations of each resident. Through open dialogue and active engagement, we can craft solutions that truly reflect the needs of our District. Through my many years working in various youth advocacy roles and as a Métis entrepreneur I understand the value of education for our community. Access to financial and business resources combined with cultural education and awareness is a core part of empowering our citizens. Together we can build a prosperous and resilient nation.
I would love to get to know you, please contact me at Jason@JasonMetis.ca with any questions or comments you may have. I’m currently working on my website, check back in a few days for plenty more information about myself and the history of the land within our District! www.JasonMetis.ca
